Established in 2021, Matia Press is an independent hybrid publisher of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry.

We publish print-on-demand books and e-books in English and Romanian. We also publish short fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry in English, Arabic, and Romanian on our multilingual blog.

We are not currently accepting unsolicited Arabic-language book manuscripts.

Book Publishing
We consider manuscripts in the following categories:
  • Fiction
  • Short-story collections
  • Creative nonfiction
  • Essays
  • Memoir
  • Poetry
Our preferred manuscript length is 30,000 words or fewer, although longer manuscripts may be considered.

Our publishing fee is €400, payable in advance. It covers:
  • General feedback
  • Copyediting
  • Proofreading
  • Custom cover design
  • Assistance with setting up the author’s publishing account on Amazon KDP, Blurb, and Kindle
Our response time is up to three months. Once a manuscript is accepted, production may take up to four months.

How to Submit a Book
Please email your manuscript to matiapress@hotmail.com. Include:
  • Your name
  • The manuscript title
  • The genre
  • The approximate word count
  • A short synopsis
  • Details of any previous publication
  • Short bio
We accept previously published work if the author still holds the necessary rights. Please identify the original publisher so that proper credit can be given.

Blog Submissions
There is no submission or publication fee for work published on our blog.

Short Fiction and Creative Nonfiction
  • Maximum length: 3,000 words
  • Languages: English, Arabic, or Romanian
  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted
  • Up to three submissions at a time
  • Response time: up to three months
Poetry
  • Maximum total length: 3,000 words
  • Languages: English, Arabic, or Romanian
  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted
  • Up to three poems at a time
  • Response time: up to three months
